WeRead Box – New Book Box Announcement

I love my book box subscriptions. I have put a lot of time and effort into researching book box companies over the last couple of years! It is with great pleasure that I can announce a new middle grade book box is launching TODAY – the WeRead Box.

WeRead Box

The We Read Box has been created by two Dorset-based book lovers, Kirsty and Stacey. Today is the first day of their Kickstarter campaign for a bi-monthly book subscription box aimed at 8-12 year olds “and anyone else who loves a good story”. Count me in!

The box itself will launch in September 2019, with September and November’s boxes being exclusive to Kickstarter supporters. Not only that but they have some early bird deals so I recommend that you check them out asap! Following a successful campaign the boxes will be available to the general public from January 2020, with gift cards available as the perfect Christmas gift.

What’s in the WeRead Box?

An important question! Firstly, WeRead Box has stated that each box will be curated to appeal to readers of all genders. Secondly, they intend to make their packaging and products as eco-friendly as possible, which is fantastic news. So what is in a typical box? Each WeRead Box will contain the following:

  • A carefully selected, newly released middle grade book in a mix of genres
  • A signed bookplate
  • A matching/themed bookmark
  • A themed collectable pin with a locking back (yay!)
  • A WeRead Activity Booklet featuring content from WeRead members (intriguing) and monthly book club discussion & activity prompts
  • Author introduction video and post read Q&A (provided online)
  • Additional item(s) inspired by the monthly theme or book

My Thoughts

I am really excited for a new middle grade UK based book box. There are SO many other boxes out there but there has been a real gap in the market for a box for younger readers. Reading is really important, especially for young people and as WeRead Box comments:

WeRead Box Ethos

“Reading for pleasure has been shown to develop, among other qualities, kindness and empathy, things our world is in definite need of. The quote above epitomises WeRead Box’s ethos. We will package and present reading as something fun to engage in, whilst encouraging our readers to use what they’ve learned from the book in their everyday lives – all delivered directly to your door!”

Kirsty, one of the box’s co-founders, has always been very active on the Fairyloot book group page and is now a moderator. I followed her on social media before I even started blogging and can attest that she is not only a lovely person but she has excellent taste in books. I am confident that with her and her best friend at the helm, the WeRead Box will be fabulous.
