Hello lovely people!
I’m Adele, better known to my friends as Delly, a 32 year old theatre graduate based in East Yorkshire. I love all forms of storytelling including theatre, film, gaming and particularly books! My blog will focus on all of these things as well as disability awareness and a few lifestyle posts too. I am REALLY looking forward to sharing some of the things that I love with you.
“Reading can almost be viewed as empathy training. Movies have better action scenes, sure. But books are uniquely suited to showing you the inside of another person’s head. That is the root of empathy. That’s the first step to understanding you’re not alone in the world.” – Patrick Rothfuss
Reading has always had a special place in my life and has carried me through some very challenging times, which I’m sure is true for many book bloggers out there. Being able to step into someone else’s world for a while is a wonderful thing. I love discovering new books that I want to read and being able to share books that I love with others. I read and enjoy a wide variety of genres but I especially love fantasy, science fiction, dystopia and their YA variants. My favourite authors include Patrick Rothfuss, Becky Chambers, Jim Butcher, Brandon Sanderson, J.K. Rowling and Sarah J. Maas.
I have always been a gamer girl. I’m a huge RPG fan! I spent a lot of my childhood playing Mario and Zelda. Ocarina of Time is, I believe, one of the best games ever created. In World of Warcraft, during the days of Mists of Pandaria, I was part of a successful semi-hardcore raiding guild. Blizzard do some amazing cinematics and the story progression was definitely a big hook for me. My rankings have reached legendary as a Hearthstone player and Platinum in League of Legends. My blog will talk about some of my gaming antics as well as films and Netflix shows that I will inevitably become addicted to.
After being a vegetarian for my whole life I decided to become a vegan in 2017. It has been a very positive experience for me and I hope to share recipes, photos and vegan friendly places that I visit with you. Being vegan is not just a diet for me, it is also a lifestyle choice so I will also be discussing beauty items, bath products, candles and an assortment of vegan-friendly things that I have enjoyed. There are a lot of things that make life a little better, which I hope to share with you too.
Health and Happiness
I am a disabled blogger having had a severe heart defect from birth. This has, inevitably, had a huge impact on my life although I have always tried hard to remain a positive person. There are so many people out there that struggle with invisible disabilities including mental health issues. I hope that sharing this part of my life may help you to understand what it is like for me, in the hope that you can support other people in similar situations.
