FairyLoot March Unboxing – ‘Favourites’ Anniversary Box

Happy 3 Year Anniversary FairyLoot!

I have been a subscriber since August 2017 and as a company they seem to be going from strength to strength. They have put together a fantastic team and have built a strong community, full of bookworms, which it is a joy to be a part of. The March ‘Favourites’ box sold out very quickly, which is not surprising with it being an anniversary box containing two exclusive books. Last year a few people were disappointed with March box so it was really important that FairyLoot nailed it this year. My box has arrived at lightening speed this month. I am really excited to share my unboxing with you! Spoilers ahead…

  • FairyLoot Logo Purple
  • FairyLoot March 3 Year Anniversary Box
  • FairyLoot March Book To Best the Boys
  • Viper by Bex Hogan
  • FairyLoot March Alice in Wonderland Socks
  • FairyLoot March Metal Bookmark
  • FairyLoot March Enamel Pin
  • FairyLoot March Scarf
  • FairyLoot Art Prints
  • FairyLoot March Tarot Cards

FairyLoot March Books

In their initial announcement the FairyLoot team revealed that there would be two special edition books in the March box, which was very exciting! I love it when book boxes include an extra book but particularly when it is a special edition or an advanced edition. In this case – both! I had my suspicions as to what the first book would be but the second was much harder to guess. Both books are signed by their respective authors, which is fantastic. Book plates are great but there is nothing quite like a signature on the page.

To Best The Boys by Mary Weber

I am really happy that this book was chosen as the main book this month. Having heard great things about it from fellow book bloggers I was definitely going to have to pick this one up. If you don’t know much about it you can check out the synopsis on Goodreads here. A dangerous maze, girl power, disguises…. Yes please! The exclusive edition is lovely and I am really pleased that they went with the grey to match in with the cover rather than a contrasting colour. It is subtle and looks very classy.

Viper by Bex Hogan

This is the first book in a new series. It isn’t published until the 18th April so it is very cool to be able to read it early. It is supposed to be perfect for Sarah J Maas fans and I think a lot of people will be excited to read this one. The cover is also exclusive and looks like it has a purple rather than blue background. You can check out the synopsis here, which has this great quote:

“He will make me a killer.

Or he will have me killed.

That is my destiny”

FairyLoot March Items

There are five main items in the FairyLoot March box and I like them all. The FairyLoot team decided to include items based on a mix of some of their favourite fandoms. Personally, I really love that idea for an anniversary box.

Bookish Socks

Yay! I really like it when Fairy Loot include socks as they are always really good quality. The socks are inspired by Alice in Wonderland and the design quotes the beginning of the book. They are lovely and stretchy so a big hit with me.

FairyLoot Bookworm Page Tabs

This isn’t the first time FairyLoot has included page tabs but this set is brilliant. The tabs are brightly coloured and have useful labels such as ‘quote’, ‘plot point’ and ‘issues’. I am going to find these so useful for reviewing purposes! I know the tabs won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but they are a nice way to mark your favourite quotes.

Metal Bookmark

The bookmark is absolutely gorgeous. It is Strange the Dreamer themed, with a lovely quote and a blue tassel to match the original cover. What makes it a really great item though is that unlike some other metal bookmarks it is not flimsy. I am 100% putting this on display instead of using it as a bookmark. In some ways I wish it was bigger because I love the design so much!

Enamel Pin

Having a special, celebratory enamel pin is a lovely idea. Mine is already pinned to my banner, glinting in the sunshine. If I was being really picky I would have preferred the fairy to be white like the anniversary logo. Black and purple are both FairyLoot colours though so it does make sense why they picked them. I really hope that they release more pins to collect.

FairyLoot March Scarf

I have saved the best item for last! The colourful scarf was designed by @carakozik, who is an amazing designer. I love her Harry Potter designs. This scarf is soft and SO beautiful. I am sure that a lot of the book spines featured are FairyLoot subscribers’ favourite fandoms. There are a couple of spelling mistakes with the titles, which doesn’t really bother me. Once it is around your neck the full titles will be unreadable anyway. It is such a thoughtful addition to the box and I can’t wait to wear it.

FairyLoot Art Prints and Extras

It is nice to have such a variety of art prints! I am in love with the Warcross inspired print. The Cruel Prince and An Ember in the Ashes prints are lovely too. As a little extra there is a chapter sampler of Sherwood by Meagan Spooner, which is a Robin Hood retelling. An author letter for To Best The Boys is also included as are this month’s tarot cards.

My Thoughts

FairyLoot definitely succeeded in creating a lovely, thoughtful box for their 3 year anniversary. My favourite item is the scarf, which is true of every FairyLoot box that has ever contained a scarf! It seems to be a bit of an anniversary tradition. The mix of items is nice and the art prints were particularly good this month. One of the best things about FairyLoot is their ability to secure exclusive editions. I love that they included two books for their anniversary box and Viper sounds amazing. Was the box worth the money? Definitely! I always feel like I get good value for money from FairyLoot. For their 4 year anniversary box in 2020, I would love it if they did something with the quote featured on their boxes!

Did you get the FairyLoot March ‘Favourites’ box? What do you think?

I know that one too well! I am a sucker for spoilers if I have to wait too long though. I hope it comes quickly!!! I was shocked that mine turned up today as I only got the tracking yesterday.

I got mine last night, the February box landed 3 days after I got the tracking, so I think it’ll be Monday at the earliest. Are you happy with it?

Oh wow, two books! I have only ordered FairyLoot once last year and it was AMAZING. The international shipping costs are just a pain to keep paying for. Lol.

International shipping costs are definitely a pain. There are a few boxes I would love to try but the customs and postage just make it unjustifiable for me. Which box did you get last year? ๐Ÿ™‚

That is a good reason to hate them! It is a shame there aren’t two size options that could be selected in a profile so they would fit nearly everyone. I am glad you liked the box mostly. FairyLoot are replacing the scarf due to the typos, which is very good of them.

    Fab unboxing ๐Ÿ™‚
I am very excited to read To Best The Boys, I requested a review copy from the publisher last year but as turned down.
The Warcross print is *stunning* and I keep taking it out and staring at it haha.
I do have to say I’m a little disappointed that there’s another item with spelling errors, but you’re right that once it’s on you wont spot them.

Even my partner liked the Warcross print and he is completely disinterested in art prints normally. The colours are awesome. I am glad that you finally get to read To Best the Boys and that it is a really nice edition. I think it was quite a popular arc request. It really is unfortunate that there were spelling errors after the previous issues and assurances. I doubt that they will be replacing this one, although it should be less noticeable than on a banner :-p Congrats on your UKYABA nomination ๐Ÿ™‚ Voted for you so best of luck!

I wholeheartedly agree! If you take into consideration that you are getting a special edition hardback in nearly every box and then add up all the extras then it is usually excellent value. The only argument I see to the contrary is if people have had it delivered to a different country and the shipping has been expensive but I don’t think that counts in the same way. It is less about the value of the box itself but more the value to them personally at that point. There are a lot of other book boxes where I think the items are nice but you certainly pay full price for them. I hope you love the next box you get ๐Ÿ™‚
