Heart of Flames Cover Reveal

Heart of Flames is the sequel to Nicki Pau Preto’s wonderful debut Crown of Feathers, which was published earlier this year. It is a fantastic YA fantasy novel with sisters, legends, magic, phoenixes and plenty of plot twists! I loved book one and you can check out my full review here.

I am genuinely excited to announce that I have been selected to be part of the First Riders street team for Heart of Flames, which will be publishing in early 2020! This means that I got to see an early sneak peak of the book cover and as soon as I saw it I fell in love. Phoenixes are my favourite magical creature and the artwork on the book jacket is phenomenal. I would genuinely love a copy on my wall. I am really excited to share it with you so here is the full jacket artwork:

Paste Magazine Heart of Flames Article

The Heart of Flames cover was officially revealed by Paste magazine on the 24th and this is the actual book cover:

Heart of Flames Book Cover

I honestly love everything about the cover. I am surprised that the phoenix doesn’t taking centre stage like it does on the Crown of Feathers cover. That said, I think they are both equally gorgeous. The cover was designed by Tiara Iandiorio and illustrated by the super talented Kekai Kotaki. Interestingly, Kekai Kotaki is known for their game design and was Lead Concept Artist on Guild Wars 2.

The wonderful thing about the Paste article is that they have shared an excerpt from Heart of Flames! If you have read Crown of Feathers then you can read the exciting excerpt here. If you haven’t read book one yet you honestly need to add it to your TBR! Especially if you love YA fantasy. It is the perfect time to pick it up so you are ready for the release of book two.

How important are book covers to you when you buy a book? What do you think to the HoF book cover?

The illustration is unbelievable! You definitely should pick up the first book as it is well worth reading. It is going to be a trilogy now so you have two more books to look forward to if you do 🙂
