February 2019 Book Releases

Love is in the air and my heart is focused on these exciting February 2019 book releases. There are some really big titles being released this month that I have been excited about for a long time. Not sure what is coming out? Here are my top five picks to help you out:

Four Dead Queens

Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte Book Cover. February 2019 book releases.

Title:Four Dead Queens

Author: Astrid Scholte

Published: 26th February 2019

Publisher: Putnam

Genre: YA Fantasy

Goodreads: Add me here

I have seen the cover for Four Dead Queens pop up over my Twitter feed for a long time. The concept of a nation split into four and having each quarter ruled by one of four queens certainly sounds interesting. Each quarter is very different and the descriptions remind me a little of Divergent although in a very different setting. Black markets, palaces and murderous threats to all four queens…. Four Dead Queens sounds very promising to me!

Crown of Feathers

Crown of Feathers Book Cover by Nick Pau Preto. February 2019 book releases.

Title: Crown of Feathers

Author: Nicki Pau Preto

Published: 12th February 2019

Publisher: Simon Pulse

Genre: YA Fantasy

Goodreads: Add me here

Phoenix’s are my favourite mythical creature so to be completely honest I was sold as soon as I read ‘Phoenix Riders’. Beyond that there is a war that rips a nation apart, betrayal, disguise, sisterly feuds and truths yet to be uncovered. It has all the elements of a great read and I have heard wonderful things from other bloggers about this debut.

On the Come Up

On The Come Up by Angie Thomas Book Cover. February 2019 book releases.

Title: On the Come Up

Author: Angie Thomas

Published: 5th February 2019

Publisher: Balzer + Bray

Genre: YA Contemporary

Goodreads: Add me here

Angie Thomas’ last book The Hate You Give is still in the top 100 best sellers list for Young Adult (Hardcover) and I hope that On the Come Up will prove to be as successful. This is an own voices book that gives the reader an insight into the poverty stricken lives of poor, working class black families within America. Like it’s predecessor it deals with the topics of discrimination and prejudice. Bri wants to be a famous rapper but she is going to have to fight hard for her dream in a world where the odds are stacked against her. I have had this book on pre-order for a long time and it is my top pick for this month.

Enchantée

Enchantée by Gita Trelease Book Cover.

Title: Enchantée

Author: Gita Trelease

Published: 5th February 2019

Publisher: Macmillan

Genre: YA Fantasy & Historical Fiction

Goodreads: Add me here

Set in Paris 1789 Enchantée is a historical fiction novel filled with beggars, thieves, revolutionaries and magic. I love the sound of relying on petty magic, known as la magie ordinaire, but knowing that greater power is reach. Forbidden dark magic can be tempting when times are hard…. The story explores being torn between who you are vs who you have become, with the grand setting of Versailles and it’s glittering court. I am not a huge historical fiction fan but Enchantée looks like it going to be an fantastic read. I have heard a lot about it from other bloggers and am yet to hear a bad word!

The Priory of the Orange Tree

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon Book Cover.

Title: The Priory of the Orange Tree

Author: Samantha Shannon

Published: 26th February 2019

Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing

Genre: Fantasy

Goodreads: Add me here

The Priory of the Orange Tree is easily one of the most anticipated releases of 2019 amongst book bloggers. I guiltily admit that I have not read yet Samantha Shannon’s series The Bone Season yet despite it being highly successful. I am really excited for her latest novel though due to the fact it has dragons, assassins and a secret society of mages. What more could you ask for from a fantasy novel?! I can’t remember a book that has been as well received by advanced readers with accolades all around and a 4.4 star average rating on Goodreads. If you only read one fantasy book this year it should probably be this one.

Summary

Thank you for reading! My first post each month is usually my top picks for the upcoming month for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I know that the amount of books being published every month can be a little overwhelming to the average reader. It is really easy to miss a title that might be perfect for you! It makes me happy to be able to share my excitement with you all. Which February 2019 book releases are you looking forward to reading this month?

I’m really looking forward to Enchantée. I’m kind of on the fence about four dead queens and the priory, they look good but I’m biding my time as to whether to try or not.

I was on the fence about Four Dead Queens to start with but every time I saw info about it I couldn’t help but be drawn to it. There has been a lot of hype surrounding Priory so I don’t blame you for letting the ground settle before deciding whether or not you want to dive in. Thanks for commenting 🙂

I wish the pre-order incentive wasn’t exclusive to the USA. I want to collect the pin badges for the different queens!

So many amazing books! 😱 I’m obviously super excited for Angie Thomas’s new book. And The Priory of the Orange Tree sounds incredible, even though like you I haven’t read her first series! But you don’t need much more than dragons to sell me on a book 😉

Ah that’s a shame. Was there any particular reason? I hope you are a faster reader than I am as it is going to take me forever to read Priory, though I am sure I will enjoy every second. I hope your wrist is doing ok and isn’t too painful x

I think it may take me until the end of March to finish Priory as it looks like a beast of a book! If you check out my Twitter feed, Harper Inspire are looking for bloggers for a historical fiction book called Becoming Mrs Lewis 🙂 Worth checking out.
